What I Look For In A New Owner

-         They have considered adding a pet to their family for quite a while, and have decided after careful consideration that this is the right time.

-         They have done their research:  they know the positive characteristics of the Chihuahua that appeal to them, and the negative characteristics that they can live with.

-         They don’t have to have a puppy “NOW”.  They realize that the process of finding the right dog for them might take a while, and they don’t want to settle for a dog who isn’t comfortable with them, or vice versa.

-         If they have owned dogs before, the dogs lived with them until a ripe old age.

-         They have a stable family, who understands that a new dog will take patience on everyone’s part.

-         They have more questions to ask me than I have to ask them.

-         They understand that owning a pet will not only be an initial investment, but that pet ownership requires a continuing investment in their dog’s health.

-         If their dog requires emergency or special medical care, they will be financially able to provide it.

-         They understand the importance of spaying and neutering their pet.

-         They understand the importance of obedience training, “even for a little dog”.

-         They understand that a Chihuahua puppy is a fifteen year commitment.

-         They understand the word “commitment”.

-         They appreciate a breeder who cares about their puppies, and gives them commitments in return.
